American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, per news outlets.
"He considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House
He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His film credits encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted on social media.
Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
