Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Questers and Planners tables.

Fans can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
