Democrats Condemn Trump After He Claims They Should Face Execution

Democratic officials demonstrated outrage after Donald Trump alleged a group of Democratic representatives of being "betrayers" and declared they should be detained and sentenced "by death" following their posting of a controversial video.

The Recording That Provoked the Dispute

The clip, shared on Tuesday, features six Democratic elected officials who previously served in defense or intelligence positions.

"Similar to us, you all swore an pledge to safeguard and support this founding document," the representatives stated in the brief video. "And right now, the dangers to our governing document are not only from overseas, but from right here at home. Our statutes are unambiguous, you can decline improper directives, you can reject illegal orders, you must reject improper directives. No one has to carry out directives that contravene the law or our founding principles."

Trump's Furious Response

The clip reportedly provoke a heated reaction from the previous commander-in-chief.

On Thursday morning, Trump published on Truth Social: "It's called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these turncoats to our United States should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL."

In another post, he wrote: "This constitutes really concerning, and Harmful to our United States. Their comments cannot be permitted to persist. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???"

In a subsequent post, he added: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" He also redistributed a comment that read: "HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!"

Party Representatives Respond

Following Trump's remarks on Thursday, Democratic leadership released a joint statement denouncing the comments.

"Violent politics has no role in America," they stated. "Representatives who were featured in the video all acted our United States with great patriotism and honor. We unequivocally condemn Donald Trump's disgusting and harmful calls for execution against elected officials, and urge House Republicans to strongly do the same."

The opposition officials also mentioned that they had been in communication with security officials "to ensure the safety of these members and their loved ones."

"Donald Trump must without delay remove these extreme online messages and retract his aggressive rhetoric before he gets someone killed," the announcement continued.

Lawmakers' Defiant Answer

The officials who appeared in the video also issued a statement.

"We serve as ex-military personnel and national security professionals who care for this nation and took an pledge to safeguard and support the constitution of the United States," they said. "This commitment lasts a lifetime, and we intend to maintain it. No intimidation, intimidation, or promotion of aggression will prevent us from that sacred duty."

"The significant point is that the president deems it liable to punishment by execution for us to reiterate the legal requirements," they stated. "Armed forces members should understand that we have their protection as they fulfill their oath to the constitution and responsibility to follow only lawful orders. It is not only the right thing to do, but also our obligation."

They added: "All citizens must come together and denounce the ex-president's calls for our death and political violence. This is a period for moral clarity."

Additional Governmental Comments

The Opposition leader also censured Trump's comments and posted on online networks: "We must be absolutely clear: the President of the United States is demanding the death of government members."

He added: "This represents an direct THREAT. Each congressional member, each house member, all citizens – without partisan consideration – should denounce this right away and unconditionally."

The Conservative official justified Trump's claim that the Democrats had been involved in "rebellion", characterizing the video as "wildly inappropriate", stating: "This represents very dangerous, you have prominent officials of Congress advising military personnel to ignore directives, I think that represents without precedent in US history."

The GOP official also allegedly stated to the press that in what he examined of Trump's publications, Trump was "explaining the crime of treason" but that "lawyers have to parse the terminology and establish all that."

Administration Reaction

During a executive branch meeting on later that day, when asked by a reporter, "Does the president want to execute members of Congress?", the executive branch representative replied: "Certainly not."

"We should understand about what the president is addressing," the representative said. "We see active officials of the US Congress who worked together to orchestrate a digital communication to members of the American armed forces, to active duty service members advising them to defy the commander in chief's legal commands."

She added: "The purity of our military relies on the hierarchy, and if that structure is violated, it can result in casualties, it can result in confusion, and that is exactly what these elected officials ... are essentially promoting."
