Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Plumes of black smoke were seen rising near an area adjacent to the central command of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
