Large-scale Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was killed in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a public message.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region came under heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and three other people were injured.

The strikes follow periods of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with assaults already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and officials were anticipating further attacks.
