Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three individuals, one of whom opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the site overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but fell down across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.
