The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at The Game Awards — Another Award Type Might Solve This

Each time a prominent awards ceremony nears, there’s always an outcry for the addition additional classifications to acknowledge unsung work and fill the spirits of followers dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. So would strategy board titles, representing a passionate advocate's mission. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and important of all. Here's the proposal: We need an award type for logic-based games.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works is not a science; opinions vary greatly, and typically spark debates and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that movie academies avoid this approach. Yet it remains a necessary evil in the world of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they barely qualify as a single art form.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, and to ensure all game types to receive proper recognition, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies currently feature award types recognizing Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these award types effectively encompass numerous genres, and you can find room for numerous titles.

This doesn't apply to puzzle games. No suitable classification appears for their placement. Think about these this year’s best games, each quite distinct: building puzzles of one title, intense tile-matching in a different title, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles from additional release. Which classification works among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

Numerous examples exist of brilliant puzzle games published annually without proper recognition at major award shows, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • An iconic brain-teaser received no recognition for anything during that awards season
  • A different innovative game was excluded that year
  • A beloved organization game was overlooked recently
  • Only a few brain-teasers scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

Frequently they represent modest productions, but the art behind logic titles holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles count as most popular titles worldwide and have been for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience competes with popular creative games competing to become highest-selling title ever; it additionally competes as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and engaging with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Puzzle games wouldn’t have that issue. One could readily select five nominees engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

And to reiterate, these are games that otherwise have no home during prominent ceremonies. Logic title developers are working at the hard edge interactive creation, creating some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like cinema stunt performers, they merit acknowledgment. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
