This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the equivalent scale as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, donated by a local firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its top term for the year.

A New Life

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, varied, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
